I love China and I am prone to trust her government.

But a cashless society scares me.

99.9% of China's banks are owned by the people. What do they have to fear?

I have had so many problems with cards and banks in my life that I feel scared if I have no cash. I am literally terrorised by (western) banks. Maybe if I lived in China I would feel more comfortable. To be honest not long ago I checked if it was possible to open a bank account in China 😊

Niki, you should fear Western banks. They are evil and corrupt. The Chinese have no such worries.

Most countries have a residency requirement to open a bank account, including China.

Jeff I do fear western banks and governments.

I used to come to China many times a year, and I remember how surprised my late husband and I were speaking with members of the government. They really cared about their people. Not pretending to care, they really did.

I would love to live in China, but right now I can't see a way.

Lots of international schools are looking for teachers in China. It's a great way to live there.
